Palmetto teen driver program teaches sobering lessons - September 2012
By MIRIAM VALVERDE —
PALMETTO -- On Sunday, about 50 teens got a glimpse of what it was like to drive drunk.
More importantly, they learned about the responsibilities of being behind the wheel, the tell-tales signs of an intoxicated driver, and the consequences of engaging in unlawful and dangerous driving.
The teenagers attended a daylong program at Andersen RacePark in Palmetto where they drove golf carts through obstacle courses while wearing goggles that simulated the impaired vision of a person who has a .08 blood alcohol level, Florida's legal limit for drivers over 21 years old
