High School Tuner
Show Cruises to Success!
Date: October
29, 2005
Location: Alonso High
School - Tampa, FL
Alonso High School kicked into
gear on October 29 with an awesome tuner show (a car
show for really hot cars) sponsored jointly by Tampa
CARS (Cops Against Racing on Streets) and Safe Teen
Driver. The show thrilled and entertained hundreds
of visitors with more than 30 participating vehicles
and some special exhibit cars. Trophies were awarded
to the winners in several categories (paint, graphics,
interior, engine and best of show), and entries were
judged by the high school competitors themselves –
a great twist that added to the fun.
CARS and Safe Teen Driver are
working with Hillsborough County high schools to coordinate
tuner shows with the goal of educating young drivers
on road safety. While showing off their rides and
having a blast, these young drivers are also learning
how to have fun in their cool cars without endangering
themselves or others.
Competition for the best tuner
show among Tampa high schools is heating up, with
the word on the street indicating that the next show
at Jefferson High School on December 10 will be bigger
and better. Check back to the Safe Teen Driver site
for more details!
